St. Georges Technical High School Administration

A Message From Our Principal

“Welcome to St. Georges Website! We are embarking on several new initiatives as well as continuing to open up additional areas of our building.

As you may already know, SGTHS is a member of the Vision 2015 Network and we are focusing on improving students’ reading comprehension by providing teachers with weekly professional development training regarding Before, During and After reading strategies. These strategies narrow in on vocabulary development, graphic organizers to organize student thinking and to categorize information, and strategies to interact with the text, such as margin notes and dialoging with the author.”

St. Georges Technical High School, a 1,000-pupil facility for grades 9 to 12, is one of four comprehensive vo-tech high schools administered by the New Castle County Vocational Technical School District.

St. Georges opened November 27, 2006 with the first ninth grade class of approximately 260 students. Capacity is approximately 1,000 students, grades 9 to 12 (by 2009-10 school year).

We are located west of Delaware Route 1 and south of the C & D Canal on 113 acres in rural Middletown, Delaware. The school structure covers seven acres with 80 classrooms, including science and career labs.

St Georges offers comprehensive high school academic curricula and career and technical training in the areas of Information Technology, Construction Trades, Healthcare Services, Public and Consumer Services, and Science, Energy and Drafting Technologies. Visit “Academics” and “Careers” for additional information.

“It is an honor to be a part of the St. Georges team. For eleven years I taught sixth grade in Pennsylvania.  I also served one year as the Athletic Director at Garnet Valley Middle School.  I spent four years as an assistant principal and athletic director at Avon Grove High School in the Avon Grove School District.  I received my bachelor’s degree from Neumann University (Elementary K-6).  I obtained my master’s degree in Instructional Leadership at Cabrini College.  Presently, I am pursuing a doctorate in Administration and Policy at the University of Delaware.  At St. Georges, I supervise Mathematics, Discipline, Athletics, Drivers Education, and Health/PE.  Believing that it takes a village to raise a child, my goal is to build upon the positive and supportive culture that exists within St. Georges.  I believe that all students can succeed, and through the collaborative efforts of the educational community, become productive members of society.  We have the power to prepare our youth to make our world a better place. Working together with all community stakeholders, we can ensure that all students will learn and grow.  Please feel free to contact me anytime. GO HAWKS!”

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology and Engineering Education from Utah State University and a Master’s degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University. Presently, I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Delaware. As an educator, I enjoy working with students on several different levels. I am passionate about shaping their character and future endeavors. My message to students-‐ “Work hard with integrity to accomplish your goals.” Prospective employers and colleges look for quality people who will do a quality job. My core supervisory responsibilities at St. Georges include the sixteen Career & Technical Education programs and the Career and Transition program. My goal is to have each St. Georges graduate college and career ready. I take pride in taking an innovative approach to developing quality instructional programs and enhancing school processes to better prepare our students. “It is my pleasure to serve as one of the three assistant principals at St. Georges. I began my administrative career as an assistant principal at Hodgson Vo-Tech High School in 2009, and I joined the St. Georges family in the fall of 2013. Prior to serving at Hodgson, I served as a guidance counselor and an English teacher at Delcastle Technical High School for twelve years. I have earned two Bachelor’s Degrees in Non-Teaching English and English Education from Delaware State University, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Delaware State University, along with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Wilmington University.”

“At St. Georges, I supervise ELA, Science, and the Guidance Department. The most rewarding part of my job is to see the students learn and grow each and every day at St. Georges. I believe also in educating the whole child. Thus, I make a point to interact with the students on a daily basis. I am able to greet them by name. This is a way for me to build a positive and professional rapport with students. In addition, it shows students that I care about their educational and personal well-being. I am always available to answer your questions and hear your concerns. Please feel free to contact me.”
